Eduard Abrahamyan is an expert at the ARAR Civilizational Research Foundation. Since 2024, he has collaborated with the Foundation on research projects focusing on comprehensive security. He holds a Doctorate in International Relations and a Candidate of Historical Sciences degree.
He is a co-author of the comprehensive security research project initiated by the ARAR Civilizational Research Foundation. The findings of the study were presented in the book Comprehensive Security: Armenia’s Alternative in a Changing World, published by NewMag Publishing House in 2025 with the Foundation’s support.
Dr. Abrahamyan is currently a postgraduate teacher in International Relations at University College London (UCL), a Gulbenkian Postdoctoral Fellow at King’s College London, and a member of the Security and Military Strategies of Warring Small States research group, and a Connectivity and Conflicts international interdisciplinary working group. Since 2022, he has also been a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Security Affairs (ISA). He is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (UK).
From 2019 to 2021, he served as Assistant to the President of the Republic of Armenia, Armen Sarkissian. Between 2017 and 2019, he was a Donald Rumsfeld Fellow and served as a Visiting Research Fellow and contributing author at the Central Asia-Caucasus Institute of the American Foreign Policy Council.
In 2025, Routledge published his English-language monograph Small States, Russia and the West.
Dr. Abrahamyan’s research interests encompass international relations theory, including its non-Western conceptualisations and interpretations, with a particular area study focus on Russia and wider Eurasia. His professional scope includes geopolitics and polarity, regional heterogeneity and regional order formation; strategic studies; the foreign and security policies of small states; coercion; rivalry and asymmetry in international politics.
